National Mobile Hospital Programme in Rural Area

NICT is working in the area of rural development with technology intervention. Our objective is to minimize the connectivity gap in various areas specifically in terms of knowledge education and health.
NICT in association with Smile Foundation has provided the Rural Health Services under project "Smile On Wheel" in the rural area of Madhya Pradesh. The health facilities in these rural areas are not much different than what they are there in others parts of the country.
Project "Smile on Wheels" aims to take comprehensive health care services (preventive, promotive and curative) to the underprivileged population in remote rural areas and urban slums, which is either out of reach from health care or is too poor to afford it

For example, Jhabua a tribal district have 12 blocks, 1 district hospital and only 1 civil hospital. Similarly, District Dhar have 13 blocks, 1 district hospital, no civil hospital. Apart from this, the availability of doctors in primary health centers is scarce.The village in these areas are at a distance of on an average 25-30 kms.

Even in Indore district which is in focus, the health facilities in this district is not very satisfactory, the villagers have to travel to district head quarter for the medical facilities. The primary health centers in the district are bit better than others, but the availability for doctors are not certain and as far as infrastructure is concerned, they even do not have equipments to identify the blood group of an individual.

We have been doing such voluntary health programs in the area of general hygiene, total sanitation, awareness camp for women and child camp through health information department and district administration.
